Toy Story 3

Being a fan of the original Toy Story back in 1995 and Toy Story 2 in 1999, I was excited to hear about the 3rd sequel not only because it's hard to let go of Andy and Woody and Buzz and Jessie but because my 3-year old son is also a big fan of it. His being a fan started when he saw the movie on DVD and fell in love with Buzz. I started memorizing the dialogues especially after watching it every night with my son. To the extent that I even dreamt of Woody and Buzz in my sleep.

Sometime on the last quarter of 2009, I saw in the net that the 3rd sequel was set to be released summer of 2010, I got excited. I've searched Youtube for the trailer, and even past movie trailers of part 1 and 2. My son also frequents Youtube to watch the trailer, but of course only when I am around.

Then came the day we were waiting for. I chose this movie for my son's first movie watch, for Woody and Buzz being close to our hearts. I was excited to watch it not because finally Andy has grown up, but because my son is old enough to watch the movie with us. Me, my husband and my son went to the theater will full excitement. We got ready if in case my son would decide to go home in the middle of the show, or maybe would not go in because its dark. But we were quite surprised when he behavely went in, sat on his chair and watch the movie with full fascination. He even laughed at the jokes and even made comments at Andy. When Woody left his hat on the yard, he said "Woody, your hat".

I try as much as I can to be there with my son during his firsts…First haircut, first beach outing, first school, first trip, first movie watching, etc. I know it will not be forever, but hey, I just want to be there when he is still young and clueless and innocent and see the world for the first time.

Figaro at IT Park

Having visited IT Park many times, this was our first time to visit Figaro IT Park Branch. Since we already had a hearty dinner, what we wanted was to chill and relax and talk and while away the boring Saturday night.

We hurriedly ordered our drinks. Since the night was dry and I felt a needed a cold drink, I ordered Figaro's Summer Frost at Php 125.00 each - Peach Lychee Sunrise flavor. My hubby and his aunt ordered Watermelon Grape Breeze flavor. The rest were something with coffee which we were not into.

As we whiled away the time, we enjoyed our stay while sipping the cold drink. At first my hubby complained that there was plastic in his drink. We just ignored his comment and continued to talk and chat about many things. Then his aunt also stopped and complained she had plastic in her frost. She showed us the plastic thing straight from her mouth and placed it on the table. That's the time my hubby said he had many of it and pointed at where he placed on the table. Of course we were now alarmed. I for one since I also have peach lychee frost. I was extra careful to check if there was one but luckily I did not find anything. We called the server and told him to check what's wrong why there are plastic in the drinks and showed him the bits of plastic. And guess what he said - "Oh its from 'generation' - our supplier of ice. don't worry we'll them of your complain." And with that, he left as if nothing happened. We were speechless. Speechless that the complaint was taken as casually as that, and speechless that it was as if nothing happened.

We decided not to ruin our night and instead decided to proceed somewhere else. But only after taking photos as "proof" of this incident.

If you know somebody who works or is connected with Figaro, any branch, please tell them to be more vigilant on preparing whatever they serve to the customers. Also, until now I cannot believe what a very good customer service they have. I thought Figaro was of high standard. Now, I believe otherwise.

Bimmercebufest at Cebu IT Park

I read an article of this somewhere but I forgot about it all along. I am not a car enthusiast anyway. Out of the blue, we decided to go to IT Park last night (May 22, 2010) to while away the boring night. Our car was parked near hundreds of BMWs so we were also curious what it was. There was a live band when we arrived and a lot of people were hovering around the displayed cars.

We also enjoyed looking at the toys and even made comments and choices - as if we could afford one. Others were really so into it that they checked the insides, the engine and anything they could inspect. Toys for the big boys....

We also saw two pretty ladies posing for photos. Guys and girls, mostly guys were swarming the area and ogling at the sexy ladies. Pretty girls for the pretty cars huh...

1st Automated Philippine Election..My experience

I was really looking forward for May 10, 2010. Aside from being a holiday (yipee no work!), this is the day we get to cast our vote. This is not an ordinary election for us, but the first time that we get to have an automated election. The word PCOS (Precinct Count Optical Scanner) became synonymous to election.

A week before the election, I did my homework. I researched on the candidates background, read flyers and watched youtube videos on debates and appearances. I want to make sure who I want to vote. And of course, I was also excited to shade that famous "bilog na hugis itlog".

The day came and I woke up early. My Dad who fell in line at 8:00am was still not back at the house by 10:00am. Upon checking, he said there was a long line and the line was moving slow. He might not be able to come back for lunch. We hurriedly got ready and went to the precinct we were assigned. I even brought with me the small piece of paper from Comelec that they gave when I registered last May 2009. I also have in my mobile phone the precinct number from Comelec's website. I realized that my precinct number on the Comelec paper is not the same as that on the website. At 10:00am, we were armed with umbrella (for the sun), tissue (for the ink) and towel (for the sweat) and proceeded to the polling place. People were swarming. We went to look for the room location of our precinct. But upon arrival, we could not even get near the list. People were all over. There was no line. I finally found my name after about 30 minutes of kneeling down, climbing the chairs just to view the posted voter's names. I have to find my name and give the voter's number to be able to get a priority number. Huh, finally I got one. No. 457. But the number being called was still 74. Hmmm...What should we do? We went home, ate our lunch and slept. Around 2:30pm, we got ready and went back to the place. This time there was a line. But the number being called was still 314. So we went out and ate snacks and went back home again. Around 5:00pm, we checked for the third time. The number being called was 490. We hurriedly fell in line and told the teacher we went out for a snack. Finally, it was our turn. since me and my hubby's name are next to each other, we were processed at the same time. We affixed our signature to the list and had our thumb-mark. Then we had to clean our thumbs before they gave out the ballot, folder and marker. Since I know who I will vote, it was pretty quick for me. I fed the ballot to the PCOS machine and without much wait, Congratulations! Your vote has been counted...I saw the famous line.... Then I had my right index finger inked. The tissue I brought came in handy. At last, I was finally done. I casted my vote and voted for the people I really believe are the best for the positions. Whether they win or not, as long as I voted for them with trust and confidence.

Sugbu Building, Kawit at SRP

Being a frequent passer of SRP, we were curious when we heard that there will be some activities going on at Sugbu building. So last night, we dropped by the area and found a lot of people enjoying the festivities. There was a live band providing the music for everyone. There were carnival rides and games for the funloving, food stalls for the famished, and night bazaars for the shoppers.

The area was so huge, with adequate parking space. What I liked is the well-lit parking area, knowing that SRP has earned some bad news lately for a few criminal events taking place one after another. It also helped that SRP Patrol cars are visible, roaming the area every now and then. Even with a lot of people around, the area looked so big and uncrowded at all. The Sugbu Building was well lit and there were people falling in line for the free dinner. Heard there were coupons distributed earlier for the free dinner.

The stage where the band performed was also huge, just perfect for the big grounds. But the band performers looked so tiny. Maybe if it was a concert, a big screen would solve the problem.

Hopefully, this area would be fully developed in terms of events and festivities and security measures to add another place of interest in Cebu City.

Club Fort Med at Boljoon, Cebu

This is where we spent our Holy Week 2010. Let the pictures speak by itself...

Front Sign

Reception Area

Reception Area (view from the beach)

Center Beach area (during low tide)

Open house cottage...perfect for day use

Right side beach area

This is my favorite beach area (during high tide) since passing buses can be viewed over the top. Also since it has breakwater, the raging waves do not scare me at all.

I forgot to take photos of the 3 swimming pools (2 kiddie pools & 1 adult pool). This is where me & my son stayed at the most...

Plants vs Zombies

Have you heard about this latest craze? I didn't realize I was really hooked on this one not until one day I was trying to Google down-loadable versions of the game so I can install it at my work station and play it during lunch breaks.

I have this game at my laptop. I tried playing on it during one of my lull moments at the airport during one of my trips. It was such a bad idea! From then on, I never stopped playing even until I had my Zen garden. Now my Zen garden is full of plants and my kid is selling them without my knowledge. Hahaha! You thought I was the only one addicted...so is my almost 3-year old kid. He loves throwing potatoes (big ones) at the zombies. He loves planting lilies at the pool. He loves feeding brains under the sea. I thought he doesn't understand but he does. He even tells me to collect the money and the sun when I'm playing.

As of now, I'm saving enough money to grow my tree. My son loves buying the fertilizer for this. Whoever invented this game, thank you for giving us another addicting game.

For those who want to download the free version of this game, go to Pop Cap official site. PLANTS vs ZOMBIES

Working Mom

I used to think being a working mom was an easy task. I never heard my mom complained before. All the while, I saw it as just an easy piece of cake. If my mom can do it and many other else, I can do it too. And I'll be at my best. Whew! It was easier said than done.

I was working right after I graduated college. And I got used to working in my entire life. Having my own family at a later age, as I have foreseen, was just going to be easy for me. Or so I thought.

Right after I gave birth to my son, I had a 2-month mandatory maternity leave. I thought it was too long to be away from work. But boy, as I reached my first month, I was already contemplating on prolonging my leave. Or if my company won't allow, I was thinking of resigning from work. Just so I can take care of my baby. When I got back to work, I would call our house almost every hour to check on my little one.

But then, work is work. I had to go back to normal and started traveling again. That was the time I had to let go of breastfeeding my little one. They said it was a choice. I was left with no choice. I had to work, we needed the income. And that was one of the consequences.

My kid is now running 3-years old. He started going to daycare when he turned 2. I went on leave from work every time they had an "event" in school - his first educational trip, Christmas party, etc. How I wish I was a stay-at-home mom.

The hardest part of being a working mom is during the times your kid is not at the best of health. You'll be torn between going to work or taking care of the kid. I usually take the latter. I have once tried reporting to work, leaving my sick kid to his ya-ya. But I end up absent-minded at work and keep on checking on him every hour.

The fulfillment of having a career is different with being a Mom. If I had to no choice but to choose only one, I'd rather be a Mom than being a successful career woman. But I'm trying my best to be both. I still think I can do it.
